The Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance (BAWA) is holding the Baltimore 500 throughout the month of June. The goal is to save the lives of 500 cats and kittens during Adopt-a-Cat Month, when shelters are often crowded.

The adoption fee is free for cats and kittens at the Maryland SPCA, Baltimore Humane Society and Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, all BAWA members along with Baltimore City Animal Control.

At the Maryland SPCA, there is a required $17 Pet ID Package, which includes collar, personalized ID tag and microchipping as well as a license for Baltimore City residents.

Regular adoption procedures apply. Many thanks to event sponsor Cat Hospital at Towson (CHAT) who is offering a free wellness exam to adopters and to Downtown Dog Resort & Spa for publicizing the event.
